Rootine will be the official Rooting for You! mobile app. Some intended features have already been outlined in a previous post, although, some ideas have since been both scrapped and forged. If you'd like a comprehensive overview of the app's features, read below!

🌱 User Profile

First off, you can sign into Rootine using the following: an email, apple, google, or discord. User profiles are essentially the social aspect of Rootine! Post daily mood boards to share with followers and/or friends. Here, you can set a short about me, profile picture, and have an "upload" opportunity to share a feel-good quote or short positive anecdote about your day.

🌱 Mood Boards & Uploads

As mentioned loosely in the above paragraph, mood boards and uploads personalize your profile! Create daily mood boards based on how you're feeling in the present moment. Upload your own or use images provided in our library. Mood boards consist of nine images laid out in a 3x3 grid format. Create an aesthetically speaking board with little to no text - sometimes images speak louder than words. Uploads (or "quotes") are a short, 75 character blurb that lasts 24hrs. This can be a quote or short detail about your day! It'll appear under your profile picture on your user profile. Anyone who visits your profile (and you can restrict who can see your profile) will see this upload.

🌱 Digital Journal

Journaling is an incredibly mindful activity. The owner of Rooting for You!, Em, loves scrapbooking and documenting her adventures in a visual manner. "Something about combining different sheets of paper, adding patterns, and pasting stickers is just so... satisfying," she claims. With Rootine, you can click and drag elements onto a canvas to make your own digital journal. Add text, photos, or stickers.

🌱 Mood Tracker

One of the key features of Rootine; the mood tracker! Document your activities, sleep quality, and highlight of your day. Rate your daily experiences based on overall mood, and rank it out of ten! You will be prompted upon login to participate in the mood tracker daily update! But, you can decline and choose to write it whenever you feel best.

🌱 Personal Self-Reported Statistics

Related to the mood tracker, come back to see your averages. View a graph that outlines how many days you didn't document, and shows how you ranked each day. Discover average sleep quality, exercise, and the like. Please note, this tracker is NOT a professional resource, and runs off simple self-report data.

🌱 Personal Monthly Time Capsules and Snapshots

Time Capsules can be unlocked at the end of every month. Snapshots can be taken by clicking the settings option, then the snapshot camera. This will prompt you to crop your current screen. This photo will then be saved to your capsule, which can be accessed later. You can revisit capsules from past months, as well.

🌱 Greenhouse (Game)

Now, for the main attraction; the GREENHOUSE! Grow digital plants unlocked at certain levels (number of plants/levels TBD). Tap them to collect "sundrops" (EXP) every hour. The more mature your plant is, the more sundrops it'll give you. In your greenhouse, you can also find your adopted dinosaur. You can also customize your greenhouse and plant shelves to be one of three available appearances.

🌱 Adopt a R4U Dinosaur (Game)

You can adopt one of the eighteen Rooting for You! dinosaurs. Their names and appearances are pre-determined, but they will appear in your greenhouse. You can feed and interact with your dinosaur. Scroll through the eighteen options, click on the dinosaur to learn more, and confirm whether you'd like to pick that one. Each dinosaur has a unique connection to another and personality.

🌱 Motivational Quotes & Caring for Your Dinosaur (Game)

Tap on your dinosaur every day to hear a motivational, eye-opening quote that will make you think. As mentioned previously, you can care for your dinosaur! Ensure you feed your companion upon login and provide water. They won't perish if you forget, but they may remind you that they're hungry or thirsty! 

🌱 Calm-ics Gallery

Explore and unwind as you read fifteen unique, wholesome, hand-drawn comics ("calm-ics") that are guaranteed to make you smile. Draw your own and share them with us, as well!

🌱 Friends 

There will be NO chat function in the app, however, you can follow and friend users as some people may hide their profiles or set it to "friends only." Friending a user makes it easier to find their profile. You can also send your time capsules to friends.

🌱 Resources

Similarly to the Discord server, there will be a list of resources (by country) available in the app. Rootine is not a professional mental health resource, and so we will link support should it be needed. In a moment of crisis, call 911 (or 988 if in Canada).

🌱 Blog & Discord Links

There will be pages promoting the blog and Discord server. Members who stumble upon the app who are not in the server will have the chance to join. Blog posts will also be highlighted here!

🌱 Settings

Settings allow for users to set preferences. You can change the look of your greenhouse here. You can also decide who sees your profile, view friend requests/blocked users, set an about me, update your profile picture, and much, much more.
